Dedicated to age-appropriate, age-specific skill development in accordance with USA Hockey's American Development Model.
SYHI's Learn 2 Play Hockey is a well organized step-by-step program that enables children ages 4-14 years to have fun while learning the basics of the great game of hockey from USA Hockey trained instructors. This program will prepare players for game play. SOME SKATING EXPERIENCE RECOMMENDED BUT NOT REQUIRED.
High-performance teams that participate in premier, national level competitions. Elite players are identified and trained by the clubs top coaches. Comprehensive on and off-ice training and skill sessions are conducted. The long-term development plan focuses on preparing players for high-level high school, midget and junior hockey.
Beginning with the 2020-21 regular season, SYHI will be featuring an 8U Junior Walleye Division. Endorsed by the Toledo Walleye (ECHL), the division will be for selected 2012-13 birth year players.
The selection process for the 8U Junior Walleye Division will be held July 9-10th.
Opportunities are available for girls at the rec and travel levels. Typically, an 8U girl’s team participates in the BBHL. In addition, we offer opportunities for the more committed and advanced player at the 10U or 12U level. Girls selected for this team compete in the Michigan Girls Hockey League.
The backbone of our club, rec hockey encourages internal or recreational play. This affordable program is designed to provide opportunities to play for fun, fitness, and fellowship. Skill development and team concepts are stressed, rather than winning. Tryouts are not required for house hockey. All registrants are placed on a team.
This program is available to BBHL players only and is a supplement to those with the desire and ability to receive additional training and competition. Teams are offered at the 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U levels.
