The Buckeye Broadband Hockey League (BBHL) is sponsored by Buckeye Broadband. Players receive a Buckeye Broadband game jersey, game sox, and five (5) Toledo Walleye game vouchers. Regular season runs early Oct thru late Mar. The majority of the ice sessions will be at Sylvania Tam-O-Shanter. There could be a few ice times at Ottawa Park and one ice time at the Huntington Center.
RATE SKATE: All players are required to attend a rate skate in late September. The rate skate is not a tryout for the BBHL. All registered players will be placed on a team.
ICE TIMES: Teams will skate 1-3 times per week (practices and games) with the majority of the ice times on weekends. The weekend schedule will vary. Each team will receive approximately 35-40 ice times. The schedule will be available online once the season begins.
ALL-STARS: From the BBHL, one all-star team will be formed at each the 10U, 12U, & 14U levels. Maple Leaf teams are for those looking for more ice time and a more competitive environment than their regular BBHL schedule. PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE NO TRYOUTS TO PLAY IN THE BBHL. EVERY PLAYER REGISTERED WILL BE PLACED ON A TEAM. Tryouts for the Maple Leafs All-Star teams are held in early September. Players must be playing in the BBHL in order to be considered for the Maple Leafs program. In addition to the normal BBHL practice and game schedule... Maple Leaf teams will participate in approximately 15 additional practices and 3-4 additional tournaments.
GIRLS: Girls hockey is a priority for the club. The BBHL assembles a girls only team at the 8U level each season. Girls ages 6-9 years may be considered to assemble this girls only team. The team is placed in the BBHL for practice and game purposes.
PLAYING FORMAT: 6U & 8U will practice in a station based format following the USA Hockey American Development Model. 6U games will be played cross-ice. 8U games will be played half-ice. 10U-14U will practice half-ice and play full-ice games. 10U-14U will participate in skill development practices ran by the SYHI skills staff.
USA HOCKEY MEMBERSHIP: All players are required to register annually with USA Hockey for the existing playing season. Online registration can be completed at usahockey.com.
TOLEDO WALLEYE VOUCHER FUNDRAISER: Each registered player will receive five (5) Toledo Walleye game vouchers. The cost of the vouchers is included in the BBHL player fee. Families may use their vouchers or re-sell them at face value. SYHI receives $5/voucher from the Toledo Walleye as it's major club fundraiser.
COACHES: Head and assistant coaches are wanted. Please indicate your interest level during the online registration process.
CARPOOLS: Carpool requests may be emailed to jacob@sylvaniatamoshanter.com. The BBHL will do its best to accomodate all carpool requests, but cannot guarantee. There is less flexibility in the regular season than for the spring season.
