Dear Families,

SYHI firmly believes in growing hockey at all levels. From the first time kids step on the ice through our learn to play program, until the time they are playing their last adult league game, it is our goal to have a place for every hockey player.

In order to improve our development for our players and coaches, USA Hockey visited Sylvania and engaged in discussions with numerous coaches from our organization. The most significant lesson we learned from this meeting is the importance of having a strong culture within our organization. Coaches were requested to complete a survey to identify the fundamental principles that will drive our organization to its highest potential. This survey covered both cultural aspects and the development of our hockey players.

To ensure an optimal environment for our players to succeed both on and off the ice, SYHI is dedicated to developing a club culture that is based on three core values: a love for the game, respect, and a commitment to hard work. These core values are the cornerstone of our club, and not only do they shape the way we play the game, but they also shape the way we grow as people. In addition to our core values, our club culture places a strong emphasis on the development of three critical aspects of the game: Skill Development, Skating Ability, and Hockey Sense. We believe that an added emphasis on these aspects of the game will provide our players the necessary foundation for them to reach their highest potential as a hockey player.

Our club’s culture centers on a passion for the sport, respect for everyone involved, and a dedicated approach to hard work. By instilling these core values and prioritizing the development of skills, skating, and hockey sense, we aim to assist our players in not only achieving success on the ice, but also in becoming well-rounded individuals who embody these values in all aspects of their lives. Together, we will foster a community that embraces the beauty of hockey, and the personal growth of our athletes.
